Check out the most recent eye candy that New Brahmin has concocted. The attention to light, the gentle fall of fabric, romantic jewelry, soft hair and make up remind us to embrace Spring’s intuition. With it’s crisp damp stroke, this season is truly budding with beauty. Thank you to a terrific team of creatives who made this shoot so very fun and special! http://www.newbrahmin.com/emerge/

Recently I went on a wicked fun field trip with my girl Jackie (www.jackiepuwalski.com) to scout out a potential spot for one of our next shoots. We ended up at the extremely cool, Harvard Museum of Natural History in Cambridge. Super sweet and knowlegable, Blue Magruder showed us around the venue. We walked by tours of children and joined them in their ballad of “oooohs” and “aahhhs”. The museum boasts 500 species of mammals, a gorgeous collection of minerals, gems and meteorites, an unbelievable exhibit of glass flowers, and more! From arthropods to zebra, this place is packed to the brim with amazing creatures. The Mineral hall lures you in with it’s visual brilliance and blows you away with it’s massive collection. The museum hosts an exhibit based on Darwin’s theory of evolution as well as temporary displays. Up now (until December) is a presentation on the natural process of horns and antlers, pretty wild! (pun intended) The undoubtedtly fragile glass flowers are breath taking and it’s hard to believe that artisans could acheive such accurate depictions of each species of fauna. The flowers were produced for the purpose of teaching botany because photography wasn’t even invented yet. Yeah…totally awesome.
Jackie and I are delighted and honored to have the opportunity to shoot here after hours. I promise we will take full advantage and produce images with a magical story line that have undisputed visual allure. We will not only focus our attention to fashion but history as well…pinky swear!

Last weekend had the pleasure of working with Little Pearl Caviar (www.littlepearl.com). Rich Brauman, the founder and CEO of Little Pearl, gathered up a team to create beautiful images for his stellar and fast growing American caviar company. Little Pearl’s kitchen is based out of Somerville, Mass in super cool Union Square. Little Pearl has been awarded “Best Domestic Caviar” from Chefs in America’s taste test with leading competitors. After sampling the decadent caviar that morning, I can certainly see why!
When I arrived, the stainless steel kitchen at Little Pearl was bustling with lights, models and glistening caviar. Courtney Perkins (www.lenscapproductions.com) and Patrick Ryan (www.lenscapproductions.com) set up their camera equipment next door at hip new restaurant Journeyman (www.journeymanrestaurant.com). The open view of their kitchen and modern interior made the perfect background for our shoot. Annaliese Rittershaus, creative director and marketing at Little Pearl, produced the shoot and stlyed the tiny briny props. Also on prop styling was Claire Rittershaus, the production manager over at the Little Pearl head quarters. Our models, Sara Murphy (www.agencyprotalent.com/murphyas) and Libby Vilner (www.modelmayhem.com/1213497) defined modern elegance and beauty while keeping the set fun with their infectious laughter. I played pretty princess on hair and make up and per usual, gorgeous girls made my job easy!
I had the opportunity to sample all different types of caviar that day. From glossy sturgeon with it’s salty but mellow tone to the jewel toned sweetness of ginger whitefish, caviar seemed less than haughty. In fact, I have a feeling that the next time I have friends over for cocktails, caviar will undoubtedly be on the menu. Cheeky and not condescending, caviar is in!

Chinatown treasures
I recently went on a weekend trip to NYC. Per usual, I came home inspired and tired but feeling creatively rejuvenated. I meandered through the streets, taking in all the unsung sights and sounds that the city has to offer. Everyday objects and experiences inspire me and re-instill the reality that there is beauty in everything. From street snacks (*see nut monsters) to Chinatown wheels and deals (bargaining for impostor pieces is my guilty pleasure) I got my fill of “awesome” in New York.
I purchased a bunch of bodacious beauty supplies at RICKY’S NYC (www.rickysnyc.com). I’m swooning over my new BUTTER London nail polish in Teddy Girl, it’s the perfect pale pink for Spring. Hopefully, it will induce some warm weather too! I bought small plastic containers made by Japanese company, MUCH MORE BETTER that are perfect for keeping my make up kit clean and organized. My favorite blush (MAC Peach Ombre…discontinued, waaaahhh) shattered not too long ago and now lives in one of these plastic heroes, ensuring that I can savor it until the very end.
Graffiti that beautified dilapidated buildings created an energetic and dynamic landscape. Walking about the urban terrain at my leisure allowed me to take notice of things I could have potentially walked right by. A sign with a cute cartoon penguin taken in Chinatown could have easily been over looked. This funny little bird made me smile and even laugh out loud. I actually regret NOT following the arrow. I have a feeling, I would have been led to a magical place! Haha.
In the end, I brunched. I had great food and a delicious fig and vanilla bellini at PUBLIC (www.public-nyc.com) in Nolita. Afterwards, I had just enough time to window shop a bit then jump on the AMTRAK (or GLAMTRAK as I call it, sooo much leg room!) and head back to the Bean.

Today was pretty much totally awesome! I shot with (my sister from another mother) photographer Jackie Puwalski (www.jackiepuwalski.com), jewelry designer Faye Hurley (www.fayeguanipa.blogspot.com), gorgeous gal Ruth Swift (Maggie Inc.). Via the power of CHEEZ-ITs and caffeine infused beverages, we plowed through a full day of Spring inspired hues. Color graced the face, body, and back drop for this shoot and gave it a fun vibrant feel. Bright shades of primary colors were apparent in all of Faye’s beautiful creations and the bolsters of fabric she brought in were perfect for designing a textured and highly patterned environment. This sort of organized chaos is seemingly appropriate for the trends that we are coming into this Spring season with make up and fashion. Color is King and I’m royally into it.

Last week I had the pleasure of working with a dream team of creatives for an editorial piece for the cool cats over at New Brahmin. Liana Krupp (www.newbrahmin.com) produced and styled, Gillian Bowling (www.gillianbowling.com) co-produced and photographed, Jen Parrish (www.parrishrelics.com) provided the decadent hand made jewelry, Amanda Gordon (Model Club Inc.) was our model extraordinaire, and I played hair and make up wizard.
The shoot was super fun and felt more like a field trip with friends than “work”. Between hair, make up, and wardrobe changes we gallivanted about Boston’s historic Beacon Hill district. We searched high and low for nooks and crannies with a secret garden type feel. Light and shadow played an imperative role in this shoot, lending to its ethereal feel. Although it was wicked chilly, Amanda was a trooper and gave us gorgeous face throughout the shoot. Here are some behind the scene pics I took. I can’t wait to see the piece published! And from what I’ve seen from these ladies, fret not. Spring will be here (with cheer) in no time.

I have a feeling this weekend is gonna be THIS awesome! To kick it off, I have a photo shoot bright and early with some of my favorite ladies over at www.newbrahmin.com. From what I gather from the mood boards our painfully talented photographer Gillian Bowling put together, it’s gonna be off the hook! Liana Krupp will be on the 1′s and 2′s styling treasures from Parrish Relics and Amanda Gordon (Model Club)will be our impeccable model. I’m on hair and make up and promise to take pics behind the scenes so you can see all the nitty gritty we get into. After the shoot, I’m off to NYC for a weekend of pre b-day celebrating. This will include but is not limited to Mexican festivities, nail beautification, brunch with my NYC peeps, the company of technological greatness and a field trip to Canal St in Chinatown to find the perfect hoop earrings. Sunday morning I head back super early to Boston for a shoot with designer Maya Luz (Project Runway), Jackie Puwalski (my partner in crime and fashion photographer), Jeri Evan (Maggie Models), and if I’m not mistaken, the uber talented hair stylist Yas Kosaka. Ready, set…

Just to make things clear, I love unicorns. My mind is currently brainstorming ideas on a unicorn inspired photo shoot. Magic and wonder are kinda my thing. Could I possibly find a horse to use? Can I make a unicorn horn? Could I find a real life unicorn??? Stay tuned, glitter is in order!

It occurred to me today that I had a long lost blog. This is my blog. I hadn’t posted anything in soooo long and what I had posted was pretty lack luster. I deleted stale information in order to start over and rise above mediocrity. It’s Spring now and time for rebirth. I feel like a tiny chick covered in new goo, ready to take on the world. Ok, well I guess I’ll start with Boston and New York.
I’ve been working like crazy collaborating with some of my favorite creative allies to produce visually delicious images for my book. I’m super inspired to continue my life long dream of beautifying the world and high five-ing like a champ. Here are a few images that I’m proud to say have recently been published in STUFF Magazine in Boston.
